Meserve told campaign supporters Tuesday night that he won't rest until his name is cleared.

I'm going to go and say I want a full hearing in front of the state attorney," Meserve told roughly 70 supporters at Tuesday's campaign party at Fleet Landing in Atlantic Beach, where he's the executive director.

Suspended Councilman Pleads No Contest

John Meserve Placed On 1-Year Probation For Unlicensed Real Estate Deals

POSTED: Monday, November 1, 2010
UPDATED: 2:35 pm EDT November 1, 2010
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Suspended City Councilman John Meserve pleaded no contest Monday to a charge of making an unlicensed real estate deal.

Meserve was placed on one-year probation, ordered to perform 100 hours of community service and will donate $40,000 to the Beaches Veterans Park, which opens Veterans Day.

Meserve was arrested in January in connection with real estate deals that happened while he was mayor of Atlantic Beach in 2005.

An investigation by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation found that Meserve violated real estate licensing law when he received $105,000 in commissions for his role in the sale of riverfront property for a development called Mayport Village in 2005 and 2006.

State law requires that anyone who profits from a land sale other than a property owner must be a licensed real estate agent.

Meserve was removed from the City Council by Gov. Charlie Crist following the charges.

Honest and Ethical?

Meserve already perjured himself when  he lied in a deposition. He said he did not take any real estate proceeds until the interviewer showed him the checks. When Meserve takes an oath, it is meaningless. If Meserve is corrupt then we really have to wonder why the Times-Union and the FOP endorsed him. What the hell kind of a city do we live in?
